The Madonna Whore

This series explores the enduring violence of the Madonna–Whore complex, a binary lens through which women are seen as either sacred or profane, holy or deviant. Drawing on centuries of religious iconography and patriarchal mythology, the work interrogates how sexuality, purity, and power are assigned—and weaponized—through inherited systems of belief. Each image is both altar and indictment: a visual reckoning with the cultural roots of misogyny that still define how women are viewed, desired, and dismissed. In reclaiming this duality, The Madonna Whore collapses the false divide—offering instead a vision of womanhood that is whole, holy, and entirely her own.
